Description
Ever have just one of those mornings where nothing goes right? Well that was the case for this juvenile Great Horned Owl. As I was looking for owls I noticed this little guy in a pretty bad position. These young owls were just at the stage of learning to fly on their own, and this one some how got one of its wings stuck in between some branches. I usually don't like to get to close to the wildlife, but in this case I decided to help the little guy out. After taking a few shots and knowing it was not getting out of the jam it found itself in, I snuck up behind it and broke the branch it was stuck in. Luckily Everything worked out great. It was unstuck with no broken wing. I later came back to the same spot and found that it made its way back up into the tops of the trees. What an awesome experience in the natures of Idaho.

I have watched owlets clumsily fly and tumble around trees before-- at times heart stoppingly so. It is not as straightforward and safe as most would imagine. Great thinking with the branch!
